Diary of writer RIKO, 1 May 2022 edition

On the day I unintentionally forgot to put out my rubbish on the wrong day of the week, I downloaded the new year’s collection day calendar from the website of Fukuyama City, Hiroshima Prefecture, where I live. There, I learned that there had been changes to separating waste from this year and that a paper waste day was added. In the area where I used to live, an even more precise separation of waste and rubbish bags had to be paid for. Interestingly, even something as simple as waste collection can vary from municipality to municipality. In my fourth year as a journalist, I, like other journalists, was assigned to write an editorial postscript. To meet the expectations of the President, I will write frankly about what I saw, felt, and thought as a female reporter.
